MCA is fueled by the passionate efforts of volunteers from our local cycling community. Want to get involved? Consider contributing your time and talents towards one (or more!) of three core areas: coaching, race support, and core staff.

Coaching
That’s right—MCA coaches are volunteers, dedicated to getting #morekidsonbikes. It’s no small commitment: coaches complete hours of training each year to obtain their licenses, then dedicate many of their late summer/fall evenings and weekends to riding with and encouraging their student-athletes. Some coaches work towards advanced certifications, gaining valuable skills and experience that often lead to advanced roles within their teams.
And while the path to volunteering as a coach may not be immediate, the benefits to coaching are priceless. MCA coaches are role models, teachers and fun-stokers who are instrumental in building student-athletes’ confidence, creating a sense of community around bikes, and inspiring a life-long passion for outdoor recreation.

Race Support
Race weekends involve hundreds of interwoven tasks to operate smoothly, and nearly all of them are executed by volunteers. Simply put: without volunteers, we could not put on races.
Volunteer positions on race weekends offer something for just about everybody. For instance, if you’re someone who is very organized, you may choose to work in the information trailer or with scoring. If you prefer a lot of physical activity, you might sign up to be a rover, course setter, or sweep. If you’d rather keep it chill, you can be a crossing guard or parking lot attendant.
When you volunteer at races, you interact with awesome people from across the state, strengthening our community of cyclists. You provide an example of service to our student-athletes, who often come back to become volunteers themselves. And you play a critical role in providing a fun, safe and fulfilling race experience for our riders.

MCA Core Staff
MCA has a talented team of volunteers working behind the scenes to make sure the season runs smoothly. They work in areas such as registration, outreach, communications, licensing, rules, adventure, sponsor development and race operations.
Volunteering as part of our core staff generally involves a long-term commitment, being able to attend regular in-person or virtual meetings and provide updates, communicating with other core staff to accomplish tasks, and—for some positions—putting in long hours on race weekends. It can be a lot of work, but the work is fulfilling! You are directly contributing to MCA’s ability to provide programming for student-athletes that builds strong bodies, strong minds and strong character through cycling.
