The objective of MCA Trailcrafters is to educate members on the importance of trail advocacy, provide opportunities to become involved in trail advocacy and maintenance, and increase the number of volunteer hours building/maintaining trail systems.
Fostering the next generation of mountain bike trail stewards and trail builders!
Events
Mountain bike trails don’t just appear overnight, nor do they stay perfect on their own—they take resources to build, and people to maintain. MCA Trailcrafters is a program designed to help teach advocacy and maintenance of the trail systems we all love to ride.

Program Outline
The MCA Trailcrafters program will include the following elements:
Trail Education Days
The MCA will partner with a trail building/maintenance organization to host educational trail work sessions. Each session will teach attendees on a specific attribute to trail building and/or maintenance. A total of 4 sessions will be hosted during July, August and September. Additional sessions to be added based upon demand.
Trail Hours Logging
Student-athletes, parents and coaches will log in CCN verifiable volunteer hours spent building or maintaining trails.
Trail Hours Logging Details
Each time a student-athlete or coach volunteers building or maintaining trails, hours will be submitted to CCN by the member. At the end of the year, hours will be tabulated and acknowledged with the “Golden McLeod”. The award will be provided by Pathfinder Trail Building LLC.
Trail hours are done outside of the scope of the MCA, unless through a Trail Education Day.

The first of a series of four MCA Trailcrafters events at Murphy Hanrehan. MCA student-athletes Owen and Kaden from the Burnsville Blaze learned how to Get the Cup Out of the trail and how to read water and create redirect bumps and relief cuts to prevent further erosion due rainwater runoff! Not only are they performing a valuable community service and learning trailcrafting techniques, but they are also able to report their hours to be considered for the Golden McLeod award!
